GLCAC Services for Families

Services for Families

The main focus of the Child Advocacy Center is to provide children, and their families, with a safe and comfortable environment to talk to investigators in cases of reported child abuse. We provide:
  • Interview Scheduling and Multi-Disciplinary Team Coordination
  • Orientation to the CAC
  • Well-trained and experienced child interviewers
  • Information on the investigative process
  • On-site support for families
  • Information on how to support children during the process
  • Education on child abuse and prevention
  • Referrals for medical or mental health treatment
  • Follow-up support and referrals to community resources

The Greater Lakes Child Advocacy Center works collaboratively with the Trauma Intervention Program to help meet the on-going needs of children affected by the trauma of abuse. The Trauma Intervention Program (TIP), is a collaborative project between Genesis Behavioral Health, New Beginnings, and Child and Family Services. This program offers a variety of services, including trauma assessment and evidence-based treatment for children, support groups for children using a resiliency and strength-based focus, one-on-one support, and the Circle of Parents support groups, which offers education, training and empowerment for parents. For more information about the Trauma Intervention Program, call Genesis Behavioral Health at (603)524-1100, or go to www.genesisbh.org
